Hello Brothers and Sisters….oh, and Martians (Grumpy Human Imposters) if any of you are tuning in! Have not made the time to sit with you here
for awhile now, I have truly missed sharing with you folks . Hope your spirits are strong and your chins are high. As for this shining soul, the past
6 weeks have been a Roller Coaster.
Those emotional life experiences that have you riding up and down and around those unexpected turns or should I say tragedies. They never
seem to cease long enough for one to gain a sense of balance at times. I lost my “Best Friend” (Dharana Jones) several weeks ago and I have a
better understanding of what it means to lose a priceless friend.
Dharana Jones is a musician who blessed so many people in Austin with the love and music he gave us. If you are unfamiliar with his Raggae
music and his band, Urban Roots, please visit this link: http://music4life.libsyn.com/ . It is a tribute to Dharana that DJ RJ hosted on his radio show.
His music is as beautiful as his soul and I am sure you will agree once you hear him sing a few of the songs he has written. Needle in a haystack
compared to everything he still had to share with us.
I have lost many whom I love in this life, and as I grow older and wiser in life, I have learned a valuable lesson. There is nothing more powerful
than love, and there is nothing that can hurt as much as love if we are fortunate enough to experience the power love can bring. When you have
someone in your life that you treasure you should never forget how important it is to act upon those emotions. Don’t wait until the next day or the
next week to express what you are feeling.
This is something Dharana and I both shared on a weekly basis and the night of his passing we both took the time to express to each other how
much we cared about and loved the friendship that gifted us. The night he passed he spent the evening with my Son and I at my home and we
giggled and laughed all night about being BFF’s (Best Friends Forever). We spent a large portion of our night coming up with other acronyms
that would define our friendship. We even thought of some for my new puppy, Smokey D (yes the D stands for Dharana : ). He’s a 4 month old
Australian Cattle Dog/Puppy! Our favorite was “SFF” (Smokey Friends Forever)…Tee Hee!
I guess what I am saying is that I am thankful that Baby D and myself were able to express ourselves, our love, and our friendship in such a way. I
can not say that it helped me in dealing with the loss of such a wonderful and powerful soul, but I am thankful that we were not to closed within
ourselves to “express” the way we felt about one another. Needless to say, the bond between us still lives within me and it is something that I will
never let go of.
The day after his passing we came across something he wrote as a child (10) while looking through a box of photo’s and memories that he had
collected over the years. It is a paper that he wrote for school titled (What I am Thankful For!) I have decided to use this along with his music, and
photography that I have captured for this months movie.
With that final note I shall close, and I would like to remind all of you to “Share” yourselves my friends! Do not hesitate to pick up a phone and call
the one’s you are thinking about. Don’t wait for a call from them. “You” call them and “act” on those feelings of love that you are having. They love
you…. you had “better” love yourself, and you should know by now I hope….I Love You to my Friend!
BFF,
Wesley Balli
