Spring has Sprung
UPDATE April 4, 2009

Finally…

A taste of spring.

It’s been a long cold wet winter around these parts and I’ve been longing for some consistent sunshine (I hadn’t
seen this much snow since I was just a young pup in Michigan ).  This past week was one of the warmest, with
temps reaching around 20 C (that’s around 70 F for you Americans) which after a lot of freezing temps
throughout the winter seems like a tropical heat wave (break out the wife beaters and BBQ pits).  Dis is good!!!

I even put air in my tires with the intent to join the Dutch (at some point) for a bike ride (mine would be for
pleasure rather than every day cycling…still a bit intimidated by this bicycle riding country)!

The coming week promises us more rain but at least I was reminded that spring still does exist (and temps
remain above freezing which helps with the hope)!

I’ve celebrated another birthday (wishes all my fellow Aries a Happy Birthday month) and thanks everyone for all
the nice birthday wishes (and Jody’s Cheesecake)!

I kept it pretty low keyed this year enjoying the company of a few close friends, a couple dinners (taken out to a
nice restaurant and homemade Indian), some drinks, a whole lotta love felt moments (I still have a belated
package coming in from Canada to look forward to).

My own special gift to myself (Greece just wouldn’t be the same until the next time I can share the adventure with
RObb…Santorini is yet another adventure to look forward to at a later date) this year is an early summer visit to
see my “Dawg” in Halifax, “The Boops” in Ft. Worth and the shortest side trip ever back to Austin (get ready to
put your dancing shoes on just for a night out at Elysium)…Good Times!

I continue to be resourceful on this side of the pond until something better comes my way (open to all options
that come my way).  I’d forgotten just how resourceful I can be when it comes to survival.  Thankful for the good
friends and support and the love of my “Dawg” who’s dead smack in the middle of his own transition ( Vancouver
to Halifax ).

We remain optimistic with the promise of good things that come to those who wait… Feeling the love!!!

Take notice of the theme song on my main page…sound familiar???  Perhaps dating myself w/ that one but hey,
it’s a Joan Jett cover that came out after the hit series…That song goes to all of us (now throw your tuques up in
the air)!!!  MEOW!!!

The video is a compilation of pics taken over the past couple of months taken by myself and a few good friends
of happenings, moods and such.

To see more great shots taken by Jody (another Austinut living on this side) of The Dutch version of Carnival in
February check out her link (my personal favorite is the wind up kid…what’s yours?):

And thru the highs and lows I experience  while I recreate and discover the further chapters of my life I’m
reminded from the words of a true adventurist I’ve thrown out so freely to others:

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation
because they are conditioned to a life of conformity and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one piece
of mind. But in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man (or a woman) than a
secure future. The very basic core of man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from
our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing
horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
Chris (Alex) McCandles

Hence our tuques go off for all our efforts…MEOW!!!

Stay tuned for more adventures to come!

Much love and peace from yours truly,

Jes the Adventurer
